Welcome to the 64th edition of the world’s best long-distance rowing race – October 3rd!

Course

GötaälvRodden is an iconic rowing event that takes place annually along the scenic Götaälv, stretching between Kungälv and Bananpiren in Gothenburg, Sweden. With a history spanning more than 63 years, this historic event has become a cherished tradition and a highlight for rowing enthusiasts from all over the world.

Race Classes

Race Classes
The following classes for Eights (8+) will be held:

• Women – Open, Masters/Amateur, Junior
• Men – Open, Masters/Amateur, Junior

The following classes for 4+ “Inrigger” / Coastal / Gig will be held:

• Women – Open
• Men – Open

There will also be races for 10-huggare (traditional rescue boats)
and Färöingar (small “Viking ships” with six rowers), competing over 10 km.

Entry Fee

• 8+: 3,000 SEK
• 4+: 1,800 SEK (Gig, C4+, Inrigger)
• Färöing: 1,800 SEK
• 10-huggare: 3,000 SEK

Included in the registration fee are bananas and soup, which can be enjoyed in the finish area.

Lunch will be served in connection with the finish. Showers and changing rooms will also be available.

The entry fee will be invoiced after the race.

Competition Rules

• Only club crews are allowed.
• Juniors are rowers between 16 and 18 years of age.
• Masters/Amateur teams must have at least five rowers who have not participated in races between 1,500 and 2,000 meters during the current year. These rowers must be 27 years old before January 1st.
• Mixed teams are permitted in all boat classes.
• In mixed teams, excluding the coxswain, the number of women and men is not defined.
• Mixed teams will compete in the equivalent men’s classes.
• The race starts class by class at five-minute intervals.
• A false start will result in a 10-minute penalty.
• Results are determined by race time.

Traffic Rules

The race takes place on the Götaälv. There are several navigation marks/poles along the river marking the fairway.

Rowing outside the marks is done at your own risk.

The river is an open fairway, and we therefore cannot stop other traffic. However, the Port of Gothenburg and cargo ships are aware of the race and will show as much consideration as possible.

The evening promises to be the perfect way to unwind, refuel and relive the day’s best moments.

When the doors open, we will welcome you into a relaxed and festive atmosphere where you can replenish your energy with a carefully prepared and nutritious dinner.
We’ll make sure your energy, mineral, and hydration levels are restored while you enjoy a delicious meal in great company.

Throughout the evening, you can look forward to entertainment and heartfelt speeches. Special tributes will be made to those who have truly excelled during the day, with awards and recognition honouring their hard work and dedication.
